LAS VEGAS DESERT SUZUKI INSTITUTE
Dr. Sasha Garver is flute faculty at the Preucil School in Iowa City and also teaches a large VOIP/Skype studio with students all around the world. Sasha recently moved from San Francisco, CA, where she was faculty at Community School for Music and Arts and Dominican University of California. Sasha’s husband is a resident in Otolaryngology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and also is a professional bassoonist. Sasha enjoys commissioning and playing flute/bassoon duets with her husband, cooking, hiking and caring for her 3 year old daughter.
Sasha has lived in many states around the US as well as Macau, China. Before living in California, Sasha was music faculty and music program director at Northern New Mexico College and flute teacher at Arm and Hammer World College. Sasha has also held faculty postings at Regis University, Colorado Christian University, Santa Fe Talent Education, Colorado Music Festival/Center for Musical Arts, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department, and Suzuki World Conferences.
Sasha has also taught at the Suzuki Institutes in Mexico City, Colorado, Las Vegas, Santa Fe and was Flute Ensemble Conductor for the 2010 and 2012 SAA (Suzuki Association of the Americas) Conference. She has lectured at National Flute Conventions and has an upcoming interactive article with her husband on the health concerns of wind players in the NFA Winter 2019 Flutist Quarterly. Sasha was 2nd flute/solo piccolo of the Macau Orchestra from 07-09, and while in Asia, she studied with Suzuki flute founder, Mr. Takahashi. She has degrees in flute and voice performance and flute performance and pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder and University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
