2019 Sonata Competition and Honors Recital

Competition

This year’s Sonata Competition will feature 2 Piano Sonatas and 2 Flute Sonatas.  Auditions should be memorized and a video link to your YouTube channel sent to LVDSI no later than June 10, 2019.  Students will be notified of the results no later than June 20, 2019.

A student may audition multiple movements or a single movement.  Flutists are encouraged to perform their audition with an accompaniment but it is not required. Winners will have the opportunity to rehearse with their accompanist on Tuesday and will perform during the noontime concert on Wednesday.

All registered LVDSI students are encouraged to audition for the 2019 Honors Recital.  Those who are chosen will perform on the Monday noontime recital. All pieces should be from the Suzuki repertoire and be memorized. Once your audition video is completed, please send LVDSI a link to your YouTube channel so it can be viewed.  All auditions are due no later than June 10, 2019 and students notified of the results by June 20, 2019.

Pianists: Students should audition with pieces that they play with both hands. Hands alone pieces will not be accepted.

Flutists: Piano accompaniment is not required.  Students in the Advanced Flute Track may audition with pieces of comparable difficulty to those found in Books 5 and up.  Those flute students who are accepted to play on the Honors Recital will have a rehearsal with your accompanist Monday morning.
