Grouped by ages 3-5 and 6-8, these children will receive a basic music class, enrichment class and movement class. Advanced Flute

The Advanced Flute Track is a select group of Suzuki and non-Suzuki students in Suzuki Books 5 and up as well as those playing comparable repertoire. In addition to Master Class, Repertoire, Performance/Audition Technique and Enrichment, these students will be preparing a Double Concerto which will be performed with orchestra. New in 2019 will be an Honors Quartet and Double Quartet. These ensembles will prepare advanced quartet repertoire. The Double Concerto and Quartet ensembles will perform on the Ensemble Extravaganza Concert. AFT students are encouraged to bring their piccolo, alto flute or bass flute to LVDSI. All ensemble music will be sent to registered AFT students no later than May 15.

Also featuring the Honors Quartet and Double Quartet!

2019 introduces a new concept in ensemble playing for our Advanced Flute Track students.  In lieu of a large flute ensemble, these fine players will be placed in either the Honors Quartet or Double Quartet so that they may study and perform advanced flute quartet repertoire.

Honors Quartet: students will be recommended by their private teacher.  They must demonstrate exceptional technical, musical and rehearsal abilities.  Full range of the instrument and excellent command of pitch and dynamics are equally important.  Parts will be assigned and sent as soon as a student has completed registration and their teacher’s email recommendation is received.

Repertoire:  Quatour for Four Flutes by Pierre Max Dubois

Double Quartet:  students performing with the Double Quartet will also be expected to demonstrate the above qualities in their playing and deportment.  Students will be two to a part and assigned according to their teacher’s recommendation of facility in low, middle or high registers. Parts will be assigned and sent as soon as a student has completed registration and their teacher’s email recommendation is received.

Repertoire:  Suite Italienne, Mvts. III ‘Venezia’ and IV ‘Napoli’  by Yvonne Desportes

Students will perform at the Thursday night Ensemble Extravaganza Concert.

Enrichment Classes

Vocal Ensemble

It’s a proven fact that singing is more fun when we are surrounded by friends, belting it out at the top of our lungs! Humans are wired for rhythmic togetherness; from singers to instrumentalists to dancers to friends—we bond best when we are making music with each other.

Come join us as we use our voices—not just our instruments—to put all of our music education to good use! Your voice can be a powerful tool in your music study, and singing in and ensemble is the perfect way to explore your vocal abilities. You don’t need a perfectly trained voice, just a good attitude as we sing fun, uplifting, exciting, and beautiful music together!
