LAS VEGAS DESERT SUZUKI INSTITUTE

TEACHER TRAINING: JULY 5-13, 2019

General
Information

Welcome to our valued Teacher Trainees. We look forward to having you at our Institute this year! We are so proud to have Laurel Ann Maurer and Laura Larson as this year's Flute Unit and Every Child Can! teachers. We are confident that you, and your continued education, is in the best of hands with these two amazingly talented, highly skilled teachers.

Please note that Wednesday at noon there is a required SAA meeting which will take place immediately after lunch.  We ask that you arrange to eat on campus so that you are able to attend this informative session.

A few quick notes:

All trainees are expected to have your entire Unit Book of study memorized.

LVDSI offers several performance opportunities for students.  We encourage you to attend and watch the magic of one week’s work unfold.  Student Honors Recital, Faculty Recital, Ensemble Extravaganza! Concert, Sonata Competition Winners Concert and our formal Final Concert (on which you may join) of traditional Suzuki repertoire.

Dinners are available for purchase ahead of time on our website or in person on Monday, July 8.  These dinners are offered on Thursday and Friday, prior to the evening’s performances. We also have a pizza dinner on Tuesday (our movie night!) which you are welcome to purchase as well as join us for the movie.  As always, you are welcome to bring in your own food for lunches or eat at nearby restaurants.

July is one of our warm months.  Please bring a sweater, sweatshirt, etc. in the event your room is highly air-conditioned.  We cannot stress enough the need to drink plenty of water so you stay properly hydrated. We will have bottles of water and snacks .for sale in the lobby.  Chapstick, sunscreen and a light hat are also recommended.

Welcome to the Las Vegas Desert Suzuki Institute!  We are happy you have chosen to study with us.

Teacher Trainee Classes

Every Child Can!

This is a pre-requisite course for all teachers wishing to take Unit 1 training.  As this is a non-instrument specific class, teachers of all instruments are welcome to attend.  Please note: you must attend all 6 hours in order to receive credit so we ask that you arrange your transportation to Las Vegas accordingly.

Parents, university students and recent high school graduates are encouraged to join us.  Laurel Ann is an excellent instructor who will provide you with wonderful insight into the Suzuki Philosophy and how it develops the musical ability of young children.
